Prompt: 001
Word Count: 1401

Summary: It took her several moments just to lift her hand. It shook so much she couldn’t see…or maybe that was the tears. But she had to get herself together now and face the truth – right there on the bathroom floor…
--
“Just breathe…” she whispered to herself. She – was Addison Forbes Montgomery and she never cried. She was also the same woman who was currently sitting on the floor with her back to the bathroom door on the verge of tears.
“I can do this” she reached her hand out and placed the white stick on the sink, carefully looking at her watch before she settled back in her place again. “Just 3 minutes” she closed her eyes as she let her head lean back against the door.
“Addison!” the banging on the door made her jump in fright. She rose to her feet nd starred at the white door in pure horror.
“Yes” her voice didn’t sound like her.
“Are you okay in there?” Alex sounded concerned and she could almost see how his eyes looked. Those puppy-dog eyes he had that always made her cave.
“I’m fine” she almost choked on the words and she glanced towards the sink once more.
“I know you better” Alex replied through the door. “I know that you don’t sound okay.”
“Just give me a minute…” Addison said and glanced at her watch before she mumbled to herself. “…or 2…”
Everybody's watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next
What happens next
“Add…” Alex said softly this time. It always surprised her how much feelings he could get in by simply using her nickname.
“I’ll come out soon. I just need to do something. Go to bed, I’ll be right there” she actually surprised herself by sounding normal again and after several moments of her not moving she could hear his footsteps moving away from the door and she could let out the breath she had been holding.
She moved back to her seat on the tiled floor by the door and wrapped her arms around her knees.
Only a minute left and she would know if her life was about to change forever.
One minute to know if she would not be able to work in a long time - her career was definitely in trouble.
One minute to find out if her biggest dreams would come true.
She looked at her watch and realized the time was out. The test was done. All she had to do was raise her hand and pull it back from the sink…but she couldn’t. She was stuck, her body wouldn’t move, it wouldn’t listen to her anymore…
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
It felt like hours until she could finally move again. Though in reality it was less then a minute but soon the test was back in her hand. She twisted the test around in her lap as she tried to grab some courage from inside.
It took her several moments just to lift her hand. It shook so much she couldn’t see…or maybe that was the tears. But she had to get herself together now and face the truth – right there on the bathroom floor.
The tears came before she could stop them and her body begun to shake even more. She couldn’t help it, she
never cried or lost focus…but here she was broken down on her bathroom floor like someone else. Someone who was not at the peek of her career and had the life she always dreamt of.
She was someone else – someone who actually felt happy.
Slowly, almost as in slow motion she rose from the floor and grabbed the sink. There she looked at herself in the mirror and a pale reflection of herself looked back. Her eyes were red from crying and over all she looked noting like the perfectionist she usually were.
With a sigh she pulled back and unlocked the door. Another deep sigh and she opened it, stepping out into the small hallway. She walked the short steps to the bedroom and stopped in the doorway. She could see Alex’s body in the bed, draped in the sheer blue sheets she had bought just the week before.
It was like he could sense her and he turned around, his eyes meeting hers. The look on her face was what made him sit up in the bed and fling his legs over the side.
“What’s wrong?” he asked and motioned for her to sit down next to him on the bed. She did however remain in her spot.
“I…” she stopped and took a deep breath. “I’m pregnant.”
Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
Tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be
Alex remained on the bed for several moments without moving. “Are you sure?” he asked dumbly.
“Yes” she held up the pregnancy test that was still in her hand.
“Wow…” he slowly rose and walked up to her. “That is so great…” he moved to wrap his arms around her but she steppes back.
“Great?” she asked confused. “Not only does this change our lives forever but weren’t you the one to say you weren’t ready for kids?”
“True but this is our shot. You said it was almost impossible for you to get pregnant and you did. That in it self is amazing” he successfully managed to get his arms around her waist and pull her to him without her backing away. “And I do think I’m ready, as long as it’s with you” he looked into her eyes and it didn’t take long for a smile to appear on her face. “So no more tears, okay?” he brushed away a few stray tears from her cheeks with one hand before he gave her a quick kiss.
“I’m neurotic” he mumbled. “I should have just told you, shouldn’t I?”
“Yes you should have” he nodded and slowly began to back towards the bad, pulling her with him until they both sat down. “But I love your neurotic side” he smiled.
“Right” she laughed slightly before she scooted back onto the bed and slipped under the covers. She soon felt Alex do the same and as she turned to her side he found his place behind her with his arm around her waist. His fingers drew circles against her stomach, something that made her smile as she closed her eyes. How had she gotten so lucky?
“So how do you feel about Steven?” he whispered into her ear as she was slowly falling asleep.
“Steven who?” her answer was barely a mumble.
“As a name for the baby” he laughed.
“Isn’t Steven a bit boring?” she asked.
“It was my father’s name” he suddenly sounded offended but he still wore a smile on his face.
“Then he had a boring name” she mumbled as she drew his arm closer to her body and nestled herself close to him. “Good night.”
“Night Add” he sighed and closed his eyes as well knowing there was no way he could reason with her at that point. “But just so you know, Steven is a good name, a strong name…” he looked down to realize she was no longer listening to him but sleeping soundly on his arm. “…fine we’ll save the Steven speech until tomorrow…” he let out deep sigh as she looked up at the sealing. “I’m gonna be a dad…” and a huge smile spread over his face and followed him into his dreams…

Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here

Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here
