At the beginning with you
The sun was slowly rinsing up over the ocean, pushing away the last of the night’s shadows from the outstretched beach. The row of houses were slowly lit up and at the end of the row, far down by the end of the beach where the cliffs shot up the sun beams made their way through the newly washed windows.
Inside the room was filled with moving boxes of all sizes. A thin layer of dust still lingered over the hardwood floors after the many people who had walked there just the day before.
A lonely looking plant that with some water and nursing might actually turn into a palm tree stood in the middle of the room on top of a tower with see-through boxes. If you looked closely you could even see Polaroid pictures at the end of the boxes showing just which pair of designer shoes was in which box.
We were strangers, starting out on a journey
Never dreaming, what we’d have to go through
The counter was filled with take out cartons and it was clear no one had tried out the kitchen to cook yet.
As the sun continued to rise the beams could sneak their way through the second window of the house, hitting the large king-size bed. The covers were a bit of a mess and the man inside was spread out, taking up a lot more then his half with his arms and legs in all directions. He was lying on his stomach with his face buried in his pillow, small grunting sounds only escaping his mouth as the sun hit his face. Those were the same sounds that caused the female beside him to open her eyes.
“I hate the sun” she groaned and turned around onto her back as she kicked off the remaining of her covers. She reached out to her side and turned on the small fan she kept on her nightstand. A smile formed on her face as the cool air hit her skin.
No one told me I was going to find you
Unexpected, what you did to my heart
when I lost hope; you were there to remind me
this is the start
“Then why did we move?” he asked as he had escaped his prison of covers and pillows and moved right next to her. Leaning on his elbow he simply gazed down at her.
“You know why” she smiled and turned on her side, mirroring his position as she gave him a quick morning kiss. It had become some of a habit by now these morning kisses. A habit none of them wanted to ever give up.
“Still some of that Seattle rain wouldn’t be too wrong around here.”
“Yeah” she couldn’t contain her laugh. “That would scare all these Californians half to death.”
“It would be fun though” he laced his right arm around her waist and pulled her with him down on the bed again. “Or maybe a snowstorm and we could stay home from work all day and never get out of bed” he whispered before his lips found hers once more.
And life is a road that I wanna keep going
Love is a river, I wanna keep flowing
Life is a road, now and forever, wonderful journey
She gave him one more kiss as she slowly moved over his body to the side of the bed. He tried to grab her and pull her back but she managed to make it anyway.
“Add, come on. Just a few more minutes…” he groaned and fell back against the mattress.
“No” she spun around and gave him a smile as she reached the closet. “We have work and if I go back into that bed we won’t make it in until lunch” she turned back around and eyed through her clothes, taking down a skirt and the matching top.
She could hear him getting out of bed and it didn’t take long before she felt his arms around her waist and his lips found that special place at her neck that he knew was what would make her come back into bed with him.
“Alex” she said but the strange she wanted seemed to fade away and her voice was nearly a whisper. “We need to get ready for work” she added and used all the power she could pull up and stepped away, shooting him one of her famous glares.
“Okay” he raised his hands in defeat but smiled as she made her way to the bathroom for her morning shower. “So you need some company? Someone to wash your back?”
“I do need someone to make me coffee” she said with a smile before she closed the door to the bathroom and he could hear her turn the water on.
“I can make coffee…” he pulled one a fresh pair of jeans and a T-shirt before he made his way out of the bed room.
It took Alex a bit longer then he thought to make coffee seeing as he found an empty kitchen when he got there. After a bit of cursing he realized just where the coffee maker was hidden – the box in the corner of the living room, behind the tower of shoes.
The travel over there was not easy either, climbing box after box and he started to wonder if all the things were even theirs. How cold two people who had close to no personal life outside of work have that many things? It was insane.
He maneuvered around the tower of shoes carefully; fully knowing where those sharp heels would be if he ruined them. He had already heard what happened to doc that day he had decided to eat one of her very expensive shoes and he did not want the same fate.
He found the right box which of course was at the bottom of a new pile. And of course the two boxes on top were stuffed with books. Medical books he guessed from the small hole on the side.
But after a lot of effort he had the coffee maker in his hand and even a box of coffee he had found in another box and soon the sweet sent of coffee filled the living room/kitchen and he could sit down on one of the high bar stools by the kitchen island.
Knew there was somebody, somewhere
a new love in the dark
now I know my dream will live on
“Only coffee?” Addison asked as she entered the room. Fully dressed for work and she simply grabbed a cup and filled it up.
“Only coffee?” Alex asked and the coffee he had just drunk almost came out again in pure surprise. “Do you even know what I went through to get that coffee made just for you?”
“Sure babe” she smiled and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek as she passed by him and snatched the newspaper from the counter. “You’re such a good boy.”
“Okay now that’s just mean” he got down from the chair and followed her to the hallway and caught up with her as she was putting her shoes on. “Tomorrow you climb boxes for something I want.”
“Sure” she laughed and he knew she never would do just that. “Now come on or we’ll be late on our first day on the new job” she grabbed his hand and he barely had time to grab his bag before she dragged him out the front door.

Ill be there when the world stops turning
Ill be there when the storm is through
In the end I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you
