1. Boarding
“Did I ever tell you how much I hate planes?” Izzie asked as the group of doctors made their way through the tunnel on their way towards the airplane.
“Once or twice” Mark replied but as she shot him a stern look he sighed. “Why do you hate airplanes Iz?”
“Since you care so much you will have to figure it out on your own” the blonde shot back and hurried her steps to catch up with Meredith and Christina. “Mark is a jerk.”
“Yes but he’s your jerk” Meredith replied with a smile.
Christina was the first to step into the plane and the conversation came to a halt as they moved down the isle trying to find their seats.
“Why is there no p 6?” Alex asked as he looked from his ticket to the small numbers over the seats.
“I have a tiny hunch” Addison giggled and turned the ticket around. “You could go around looking for p 6 or actually sit down at your seat which is 9 d and that is…” she looked around and then spotted the number. “Right there, next to 9 c.”
“Cute” Alex did not sound very thankful a he strolled down to his seat. Addison was however close on his tail and stopped after him, smiling sweetly. “Let me guess you want the window seat?” he asked and she nodded.
“Thanks” she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before she slid sideways in front of him in to the inner seat.
Alex flopped down on his seat and started to adjust the arms on his chair while he tapped hi feet to the ground impatiently. It took her a few moments of self-control before she snapped her head towards him. “What is your problem?”
“Nothing” he said. “The isle seat always makes me jumpy that’s all.”
“Then why did you give me the window seat?” she asked.
“You wanted it” he shrugged. “Plus I’ll be fine once they start serving the liquor” he added and looked around, clapping his hands at his thighs as if they were drums.
“You want the seat?” Addison asked. “Because if you want the seat I can move.”
“No its okay…” Alex scanned the room as he continued to tap his feet to a beat in his head.
“Okay I can’t take it” Addison collected her magazine and the purse she had with her and stood up. “Change seats now!”
“I love it when you’re bossy” Alex smiled as he grabbed the arm of the seats and slid his body across to the window seat and she took a step to the side, their bodies touching for a second before they had passed each other. “You know this trip could turn out to be rather fun” Alex added with a grin as he watched her sit down and push out wrinkles in her skirt that didn’t exist.
“Only you can turn a medical conference into something even remotely sexy” she said with a laugh…
--
A few seats ahead of Alex and Addison Christina and Burke had already taken their seats and were comfortable. Well as comfortable as the hospital cheap chairs let them.
“Do you really think Dr. Rodriquez will speak tomorrow?” Christina asked without even looking up from the pamphlet in her hands.
“If that’s what it says then I guess he will” Preston answered.
“That would really be so great. I have admired him since I was in med school” Christina continued. “He did an amazing operation on a…”
“I get it, you have a thing for him” Preston said with his eyes on the papers in his lap. Trying to get the words to stick for his speech the next day.
“I do not have a thing for him” she looked up at him. “I admire him for being a good surgeon.”
“Whatever you say” Preston chuckled before he went back to his work.
“You’re no fun, you know that, right?” Christina huffed and sunk further down in her seat before she placed the headphones to her iPod over her ears to drown out the sound of the plane taking off…
--
“Five cards one change and we play the cards” Callie dealt out the cards with precision and security.
“Do you have a past in Las Vegas you never told us about?” Derek asked as he peeked onto his cards and made sure to keep them both from Callie on his right and Meredith on his left. They had all the luck to end up in one of the middle sections with three seats so they could entertain themselves better.
“No only an old grams who had her friends over for poker every Saturday” Callie laughed and checker her cards with a slug smile and placed only one in the trash pile.
“Okay so what do I want to make a good hand?” Meredith asked as she tapped the edges of her cards.
“Uhm low numbers out of order in different colors” Derek teased.
“Don’t listen to him” Addison said and peeked at the interns cards. She was sitting on the other side of the isle with just enough space to see the cards. “I would throw those two away” the redhead showed for the two cards to let left.
“But what if I throw that one and get the one missing there…”
“No talking in the cards” Derek groaned.
“And if that is what I think it is it’s like a very small chance you will get the right card” Callie added but Meredith stood her ground and threw just one card away.
“Ad are you seriously helping your ex husbands girlfriend to play poker?” Alex laughed and the redhead turned back to him, slapping him on the arm.
“Well I know how Derek gets when he wins and it’s not a pretty sight” Addison said. “So really it’s me helping mankind.”
“Well when you put it that way…” Alex said only to be interrupted but Meredith squealing and jumping up and down in her seat. “And when you’re at it maybe tell her what a poker face is” he suggested as Addison rolled her eyes.
“Meredith you don’t want them knowing you have good cards…”

“How did I get stuck here?” George muttered to himself as he tried to keep his eyes on the TV screen before him. Beside him Izzie was practically in Mark’s lap and their tongues were forever intertwined.
George readjusted the headphones for the fifth time to try and cut out more sounds and just hear the movie but it was doing little good. He focused his eyes on the TV again and closed his arms over his chest trying to follow the guy in the movie but the make out noises still interrupted him.
He took off his headphones and starred at them, the sight was just too disgusting that he got up and walked down the plane until he reached the small space between Addison and Meredith and sat down on the floor with a loud sigh.
“Got something on your mind there George?” Addison asked only to receive a slap from Alex. “What?”
“You don’t Talk to George” Alex said as if it was obvious.
“Why not?” Addison sounded confused.
“Because then he will tell you his problem and it will get all mushy” Alex said.
“Right” Addison laughed before she tuned back to George. “So you were saying?”
“Izzie and Sloan are making out in my seat” George muttered.
“Oh yeah that would be bad” Meredith said still with her eyes on the cards before she with a wide smile placed the last card on the table. “And that means I win…” she counted on her fingers. “…four points plus 2, that is 6 and I am in the lead” she did a small dance in her chair just as the plane hit an air pocket and did a small dip downwards.
“What was that?” George asked and grabbed hold of the arm of Addison’s seat.
“Probably just turbulence” Derek answered and started to collect the deck of cards to deal again just as the plane did another dip. This time a stewardess came running through the isle on Callie’s said and hurried up to the front of the plane.
“Okay my mum always said to be scared when they were” Addison said, her voice cracking just a little bit as she grabbed Alex’s hand.
“Relax Ad, we’ll be fine…” Alex started a motivation speech but was cut off as the whole plane started to lean forwards as if they were diving.
George grabbed hold of the chair next to him but soon lost the grip and came tumbling down the isle until he stopped by the wall with the TV on it. He looked up to see everyone with scared faces but what surprised him the most was that Izzie and Mark still had not let go of each other even in a moment like this…
